Welcome to the wonders of Fall, sometimes called, Mabon, a celebration and also a time of rest after the labour of harvest and our modern time activities. Everything is winding down and looking towards the darkness and the longer nights.
The Fall season’s message is to go within, to reflect, to rejuvenate and to dream.
Everything has a cycle on this plane. It’s time to complete projects, to clear out and let go that which is no longer wanted or needed; as we prepare for the fall descent, so that the winter can offer a time for reflection and rest.
This is a time to plant inner seeds of new ideas and visions, which will lie dormant but nourished in the dark, until the return of Spring.
SYMBOLS OF FALL:
The Apple: Considered the symbol of health. It’s a symbol for life and immortality, for healing, renewal, regeneration and wholeness. The five (seeds) inside the Apple are points that represent the elements of Earth, Air, Fire, Water with Spirit. At the top and thus the directions of East, South, West, North and Within.
The Cornucopia: or the Horn of Plenty is also a traditional symbol of wealth. The Mabon Cornucopia is the balancing symbol of both male (phallic) and female (hollow and receptive).
Here are two small rituals we can do to remind ourselves to go within, it’s time to complete projects, or ready for rest and renewal in the season shifts into Fall.
Set a side a place or on your table a plate of symbolic things. Maybe beautiful fallen leaves, nuts, a piece of fruit, things you like from the earth.
Use colors like green, red, orange, yellow, brown and gold. This makes a beautiful mystical fall table setting imbued with your own special energy, thoughts and intentions.
This you can look at as a daily reminder of where our sustenance comes from, our ancestors and how grateful we are for the bounty of the earth. Most of all, that we are all connected and interconnected.
Taking a weekly walk in the woods or by the ocean in contemplation supports a wholistic way of being and enacts/evokes our connection to our most inner thoughts and feelings.
This is deeply insightful, healing and rejuvenating, try it, you will feel it. Then come home and write one sentence about what you experienced.
I feel these small things will support us to slow down a bit or be a little more mindful of all the amazing things we have to be grateful for on a daily basis.
Hope you’ll play and have fun with this!
